Wedding in Hotel boutique Spain, having been a Spanish wedding photographer for nearly fifthy years I know what makes a great wedding…love, laughter, amazing dresses, beautiful flowers and a breathtaking back drop!
Which is exactly what was waiting for me at the magnificent Hotel Teatre in Regencos, Girona. One of the best things about documenting elegant weddings in Spain is the array of amazing wedding venues I get to visit, and although this was my second wedding in this boutique Girona hotel it was just as breathtaking as always.
When I first met the beautiful couple they explained they wanted a small and chic wedding on the Costa Brava. And that’s exactly what they had. I loved their choice of décor and was so excited to see natural rustic touches such as jam jars of wild flowers, petals scattered on the grass, chalk board signs and even chickens pecking the ground!
It was so much fun shooting the bride and her bridesmaids getting ready, and when they were finished they looked like they had stepped off the pages of a glossy magazine. Their romantic pale pink dresses complimented the creams and light pink palette of the day, with pretty pale pink and cream roses and wild foliage. The bride’s fitted lace Pronovias wedding dress was also perfect for the romantic Spanish surroundings, made even more romantic by delicate lacy parasols.
One of the most special moments was when the bride and groom spoke to each other before the ceremony on either side of her bedroom door. As they held hands, both excited and a little nervous, I was so glad I was there to get to capture such a special memory.
I love getting to photograph weddings filled with traditions and unusual customs, so I was delighted when the wedding party performed Chinese plays before the ceremony. It had everyone laughing and relaxed before the pretty outdoor ceremony in the gardens.
After the ceremony the couple and I managed to sneak away to the Pals, a gorgeous medieval village in Girona that was near the venue, where they posed for their couple shots and had the chance to be alone for a while and reflect on their big day.
The evening was teeming with emotion and so much love. There was live music, delicious canapés, garden games, an exquisite meal and after dinner speeches that had everyone in happy tears. Such a pretty and special day, and I was so honoured to be a part of it.
