I love a beach wedding, and even more so when the couple mix the beauty of a wedding in Spain with simple rustic decor and a touch of romance!

Alejandra and Javier’s stunning wedding in Trocadero Beach, Marbella, had it all. And, as they have their own event company in Madrid, I expected nothing less.

The couple had previously married in a church in Elviria and they then had their celebrations at the beach resort. Palm-fringed parasols, lamps and lanterns adorned the beach, and guests arrived to a sumptuous assortment of canapés, a fantastic cheese table and some fun servings of ice-cream holiday style.

When Alejandra arrived in her beautiful wedding gown, her hair pulled up in a relaxed chignon and her breathtaking silver Jimmy Choo sandals, all the guests gave a collective sigh. Her light pink bouquet was a spray of wild flowers, which was (like the rest of the day) elegant and perfect in its rustic simplicity. The flower girls were two of the most adorable girls I have photographed. They looked like beautiful little flower fairies as they skipped along the beach, their tumbling blonde curls decorated with pretty pink flowers in their hair crowns made to match the bride’s bouquets.

Inside the restaurant the tables were laid out simply with bright jeweled-coloured table cloths and menus on each plate to match the seating plan, made from rustic card pegged to a line.

The day was a heady mix of laughter and fun as guests relaxed on the beach and enjoyed a fabulous meal, followed by lots of drinking and dancing in the bar. One of the highlights of the evening was the Cuban cigar makers who sat and hand-rolled cigars for the guests to enjoy on the night. It was fantastic to watch everyone have such a great time, and as the sun set over the sparkling Mediterranean sea Alejandra and Javier walked hand in hand down the beach and made for a picture perfect end to a fabulous day.

I shot this wedding with the help of my good friend Pedro Bellido and the wedding was organized by wedding planner Anna Longas, who has since become a good friend. She is absolutely wonderful at what she does and makes my job as a destination wedding photographer look easy!

Every wedding at Trocadero Beach is exceptional as the venue is a typical Spanish ‘chiringuito’ (beach bar), but with just the right mix of elegance and relaxed charm. In fact I have a wedding there in September and I can’t wait to go back!
