No two weddings are ever the same, and you never know what the day has in store – which is why I love my job as wedding photographer in Spain so much!

Taline and Peter’s wedding in Castell de L’Empordà, in the Costa Brava was unforgettable in so many way. Firstly I love shooting weddings in the Costa Brava, especially at the beautiful Hotel Castell de l’Empordà venue in the L’Empordà  Area of Girona. It’s a stunning stone Spanish castle, steeped in local history and filled with authentically rustic décor. The surrounding countryside is punctuated by hundreds of olive trees and lush fragrant gardens.

As soon as I stepped into the wedding venue, and watched the amazing planners get the day ready, I knew I was in for a treat! The trees were strung with pale pink and lilac ribbons and all the guests were enveloped with the heady scent of lavender and wild flowers as the florists hung gorgeous tiny bouquets to every white wooden aisle seat. As beautiful as the grounds were, unfortunately the weather had other plans, and due to a smattering of rain the ceremony was eventually moved to the indoor castle chapel. The work of Floristeria Munguet was so amazing.

Taline got ready for her big day alone in her impressive suite, sipping champagne and having her hair ornately dressed with hanging crystals. Her dress was by Spanish designer L’Arca de L’Àvia and was made to measure, the intricate lace detail fitting in perfectly with their rustic castle venue. Her bouquet was spectacular and made up of wile flowers and grasses in shades of lilac and green.

The couple were unfazed by the bad weather and stayed happy and relaxed throughout the day. Peter is a Catalan and Taline Armenian, which made for a really interesting mix of guests and customs.

This was my first Orthodox wedding ceremony and I enjoyed every second of it. As the couple left the chapel, guests were given tiny paper bags filled with white and pink petals to throw over them and there wasn’t a dry eye in the house.

After the ceremony the sun came out and the guests were able to enjoy the pretty gardens again along with more bubbly and some delicious canapés. The table were laid out in accordance with the delicate rustic floral theme, with wooden boxes of succulents, vases filled with English country roses in blush pinks and lots of fluffy gypsophelia. I love to do weddings in Girona my favorite area of Catalunya. You can see another wedding in Hotel Castell de l’Empordà here

It was a truly gorgeous day filled with much love. I wish Taline and Peter all the luck and happiness in the world!
